Big Sky, Bigger Plans
Roaring engines, quiet gravel, and warm water. Summer is showing up in Logan County.
Make Mom’s Day in Sterling
Skip the crowded restaurant and the generic gift card. Sterling has a better idea, and it starts with coffee.
Morning: J & L Cafe Ease into the day with coffee and breakfast. No rushing, no reservations required.
Mid-Morning: Tree Sculptures and Columbine Park Take a slow walk through downtown and keep your eyes open. Sterling’s hand-carved tree sculptures and bronze statues have a way of sneaking up on you.
Afternoon: North Sterling State Park Wide open skies, a lake, and nowhere to be. That’s the whole plan.
Evening: Cap the day with dinner at Parts and Labor Brewing Co., set inside a century-old Cadillac dealership. The building has stories. So does the menu.

It’s a pocket-sized reason to see Logan County from a completely different angle.
You don’t have to be a serious cyclist to love it. You just have to be a little curious.

Father’s Day Weekend Just Got a Whole Lot Louder
Some dads want brunch. Others want to watch a truck drag a weighted sled down a dirt track while an engine screams. This one’s for the second kind.
The High Plains Truck and Tractor Pull is back at the Logan County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 20 at 6 PM. Roaring engines, food vendors, and a crowd that absolutely knows how to have a good time. Hosted by NJC Young Farmers and sanctioned by NSPA.
Bring the whole family. This one’s a Logan County tradition and honestly, a great time even if you’ve never thought about horsepower in your life.
Water Season Is Here and North Sterling Is Ready
The North Sterling State Park reservoir covers nearly 3,000 acres. That’s a lot of room to boat, jet ski, paddleboard, water ski, or just float around doing absolutely nothing productive. All of it is encouraged.
Cottonwood Cove swim beach is open for the season, complete with a picnic pavilion and playground for the kids.
Staying closer to town? Sterling Recreation Center’s outdoor pool opens Memorial Weekend for summer, with a slide and water features that will keep the little ones busy for hours. However you want to spend a water day in northeastern Colorado, Logan County has you covered.
