Lake Days Are Back at North Sterling

Boating season is officially here, and there’s no better place to kick it off than North Sterling State Park.

The reservoir is open and ready for everything from early-season cruising to peaceful paddling along the shoreline. It’s also the perfect setting to simply relax and take in those iconic northeastern Colorado skies.

However you like to spend time on the water, spring starts here.

A Smithsonian Experience in Sterling

Sterling is also making history this season as one of just a handful of Colorado communities selected to host a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian.

Now open at the Overland Trail Museum, “Americans” from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian explores how American Indian imagery and identity are woven into the fabric of the United States.

Through photographs, video, artifacts, and hands-on interactives, the exhibit invites visitors to reflect on familiar stories, from Thanksgiving to the Battle of Little Bighorn and consider what they mean today.

  • 📅 On display through May 10
  • 🆓 Free admission

It’s a powerful, thought-provoking experience, and a rare opportunity to see a Smithsonian exhibition right here in Sterling.
