Scion (Wood)

Overview

This sculpture consists of several bold, dauntless figures representing the incredible tenacity of those surviving life on the Plains. All of the figures are partially united in common support to symbolize the necessity for a cohesive element within the community. The figures form an overall winged appearance to illustrate our flight through time. Scion was carved from a 100-year-old cottonwood tree. Each of us inherits the results of the actions of those who come before us, and through our own actions, can positively effect the lives of our descendants. – Brad Rhea
